nDescription
nComunilife Inc. is looking for an experienced Substance Abuse Counselor for its congregate program in the Bronx. The Substance Abuse Counselor completes initial and annual substance abuse assessments for all clients, participates in the development of the initial service plan and its revisions, and provides individual, family and group substance abuse counseling and advocacy and referrals to community programs as needed. The Substance Abuse Counselor monitors clients’ attendance at programs and provides documentation of all contacts. The position is eligible to participate in Comunilife's generous benefits and paid time off package starting after 60 days of hire.
nEssential Duties
nnnConduct initial and annual substance abuse assessments including substance abuse assessments.
n
nnCollaborate with clients and staff in the development of the initial comprehensive service plans and plan revisions, including identifying mutually agreed upon long and short-term substance abuse related goals.
n
nnProvide individual, and group substance abuse counseling.
n
nnAdvocacy and referrals to community-based substance abuse programs as needed.
n
nnDocuments all services provided in a timely manner as required.
n
nnParticipate in training, workshops, seminars and case conference as well as meetings was required.
n
nnArrange for in-patient substance abuse treatment.
n
nnEducate clients and staff on harm reduction.

n nQualifications
nEducation and Experience Requirement(s)
nCredentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) or CASAC-T or LCSW with three (3) to five (5) years of substance abuse counseling experience. Experience with individuals with HIV/ AIDS , chronic mental illness, and/or chemical dependence and their families a plus. Bilingual - Spanish, a plus.
