Atlanta, Georgia
King of Kings Business & Tax Advisory is seeking a driven, experienced CPA Tax Manager to join our growing advisory firm.
We are looking for more than a tax preparer. We need a tax professional who can independently manage complex business and individual tax returns, oversee tax plan review and deliverables, identify tax-saving opportunities, and take ownership of the quality and accuracy of the firm's tax work.
This position will be responsible for final tax return review and signing, as well as the review, quality control, and delivery of proactive tax plans to clients.
Our firm provides tax preparation, proactive tax planning, accounting, and Fractional CFO services to law firms, business owners, doctors, and professional service businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review individual tax returns (Form 1040)
Prepare and review S Corporation returns (Form 1120-S)
Prepare and review Partnership returns (Form 1065)
Prepare and review C Corporation returns (Form 1120)
Serve as a signing tax professional for applicable federal and state tax returns
Take responsibility for final review and approval of returns prior to filing
Manage federal, state, and multi-state tax compliance
Prepare/review extensions, estimated tax payments, and tax projections
Review K-1s, shareholder/partner basis, distributions, contributions, and loans
Review depreciation, Section 179, bonus depreciation, fixed assets, and dispositions
Reconcile business tax returns to financial statements and accounting records
Review S Corporation reasonable compensation and shareholder payroll compliance
Identify inconsistencies, tax exposure, compliance issues, and planning opportunities
Tax Planning Responsibilities
Review and revise tax plans prepared for business owners and high-income clients
Ensure tax planning recommendations are technically accurate and properly documented
Review tax projections and estimated tax savings before plans are delivered
Identify additional strategies and planning opportunities based on each client's financial and tax position
Oversee completion and quality control of tax plan deliverables
Deliver and explain tax plans and recommendations to clients
Translate complex tax strategies into clear, actionable recommendations
Coordinate with accounting, payroll, CFO, and tax planning teams to ensure strategies are properly implemented
Monitor implementation of approved strategies and identify items requiring follow-up
Research federal and state tax law supporting planning recommendations
Maintain strong documentation supporting tax planning positions and recommendations
Qualifications
Active CPA license required
Active PTIN and ability to sign tax returns as a paid preparer
5+ years of progressive tax/public accounting experience preferred
Strong experience preparing and reviewing Forms 1040, 1065, 1120-S, and 1120
Experience with proactive tax planning for business owners and high-income individuals
Strong understanding of S Corporations, Partnerships, closely held businesses, and pass-through taxation
Experience reviewing financial statements and general ledgers
Multi-state tax experience preferred
Strong tax research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills
Ability to independently manage multiple clients, projects, and deadlines
Who We Are Looking For
Technical knowledge is essential, but drive, ownership, and accountability are equally important.
We want someone who takes ownership of the tax department's deliverables, meets deadlines without constant follow-up, investigates discrepancies, asks intelligent questions, and understands the connection between the client's financial statements, tax return, and tax planning strategy.
This person should not simply roll forward last year's return or accept a tax strategy because it appears on a checklist. We want someone who evaluates whether the position is appropriate for the client, understands the tax implications, and can confidently explain the recommendation.
We want someone who asks:
“Does this make sense, is it supportable, and are we maximizing the client's opportunities?”
