Craft Apprentice (Carpenter)Maintain district facilities in attractive and safe conditionKnowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in carpentryAbility to use hand and power toolsAbility to follow written and verbal instructionAbility to measure and perform mathematical calculationsAbility to work independently to complete work orders and projectsMinimum of 2 years experience as a skilled carpenterAccess and complete needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment by following established inspection and maintenance proceduresSelect material and hardware & calculate time and material estimatesReceive and complete work ordersInspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean and excess materials are removedPerform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating conditionFollow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbingOperate tools and equipment according to established safety proceduresCorrect unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisorFollow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilitiesFollow district safety protocols and emergency proceduresStandard carpentry equipment including small hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments; ladders, lifts, light truck or vanFrequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent drivingHeavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basisWork outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and material, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards. Work around machinery with moving parts, may work alone, work irregular hours, occasional prolonged hours, frequent district-wide travelMaintain emotional control under stressUniform shirt provided
