Job description
Want to be at the center of the deals shaping New York's real estate market? LHH is partnering with a growing, well-capitalized commercial real estate bridge lender in NYC to find a sharp, driven Debt Underwriter ready to make a real impact.
This isn't a seat where your work disappears into a massive credit committee. Our client runs a lean, entrepreneurial platform where underwriters work directly alongside senior leadership, see deals from first look through closing, and help shape the decisions that move capital. If you love fast-paced transactions, creative structuring, and learning from seasoned lenders, this is your opportunity.
What You'll Do
Underwrite bridge loans across multifamily, mixed-use, office, retail, industrial, and transitional assets
Build and maintain detailed cash flow models evaluating property performance, business plans, and exit strategies
Analyze rent rolls, operating statements, market data, and sponsor financials to assess risk and value
Prepare investment memos and present recommendations directly to senior leadership and credit committee
Help structure loans, including sizing, pricing, reserves, and key terms
Coordinate third-party reports (appraisals, environmental, property condition) and support deals through closing
Monitor existing loans, tracking business plan execution and portfolio performance
What You Bring
2+ years of CRE underwriting, lending, debt, or investment experience (bridge, balance sheet, CMBS, or debt fund background is a plus)
Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; Argus experience is a plus
A solid grasp of CRE valuation, loan structuring, and risk analysis
Clear, confident writing and communication skills
The drive to thrive in a fast-moving, hands-on environment
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
Why This Role Stands Out
High deal velocity and exposure to a wide range of asset types and business plans
Direct access to senior decision-makers and a real voice in the investment process
A clear path for growth in an expanding lending platform
Competitive base salary plus performance-based bonus
In-office collaboration in New York City
Compensation:
$120,0000 – $175,000 base salary, plus discretionary bonus and benefits
