Faculty may also have opportunities to provide clinical care in other ICUs across the UPMC Health System based on departmental needs, clinical expertise, and mutual agreement.

Required qualifications include excellent communication skills, professionalism, sound clinical judgment, and a commitment to teamwork, education, patient-centered care, and a respectful and inclusive academic environment. Prior clinical experience or focused training in cardiothoracic critical care, ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, advanced hemodynamic management, perioperative cardiothoracic care, echocardiography, quality improvement, education, or clinical research is desirable but not required.
