School Crossing GuardProvide for the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersection. School crossing guards are not to engage in traffic direction or control.High School Diploma or GEDAbility to work in a positive manner with studentsPossess positive interpersonal skillsValid Iowa Driver's licenseSuccessful completion of a criminal background check and physical capacity profile test will be required upon offer.Personal Performance CriteriaWorks well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with school personnel and studentsContributes to creating a positive work environmentDemonstrates integrity and respects confidentialityArrives on time and works consistently until the end of his/her scheduled dayAssists children on their way to and from school safely across roadways and intersections and observe gaps in traffic, utilizing traffic signals when availableLeads children across roadways or intersection while holding a "stop" sign and wearing an appropriate traffic vest in such a manner as to be visible to approaching vehiclesWorks independently and with confidenceDemonstrates ability to grasp and adjust to new and changing situationsDemonstrates initiative and ability to work without close supervisionProfessional Performance CriteriaSupervises students crossing roadwayReports relevant matters to supervisorDisplays ability to effectively handle varied situationsDemonstrates knowledge and awareness of school policies and regulationsDemonstrates good judgement and reasoning ability to avoid subjecting children to dangerous traffic conditionsProvides own transportation to/from crossing guard location as assignedMust have the ability to see and hear sufficiently to identify safety hazardsMust have the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 15 poundsDuties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor may vary from time to timeWork Hours: 7:00-9:00 a.m. and 2:15 - 4:00 p.m. (Monday - Friday)Benefits:Iowa Public Employees Retirement System (IPERS)Employee assistance programPaid leave and holidaysTuition reimbursement
