Crossing Guard Wasmer ElementaryAssist students before and after school with street crossing. Times: From approx. 7:15 am until school starts and from school dismissal until the majority of the children have left the school grounds (approx. 40 minutes). Wage is $30.00 per day.Job DescriptionPosition Title: Crossing GuardReports To: District Safety CoordinatorFLSA Status: Hourly, non-exemptAt-Will Position: This position is an "at-will" position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time at the sole discretion of the Superintendent or Superintendent's designee.Position Purpose: Under the direct supervision of the District Safety Coordinator, the Crossing Guard is responsible for the safety of school students going to and returning from school, at designated school crosswalks. The work involves maintaining control of students, supervising students while they cross roadways, directing student traffic in and out of schools, and controlling student traffic along school roadways.Desired CharacteristicsDevelop positive relationships with studentsAble to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures, including rain, wind and snow.Maintain constant awareness for unsafe conditions and seek appropriate corrective actions within the scope of authority.Job ResponsibilitiesAssist students in safe crossing of streets and roads.Oversee the safe conduct of students while crossing streets and roads.Remain with students and vigilant for their safety while they cross roadways.Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.Deliver a visible presence to students and motorists so that students feel safe and secure and motorists know to use caution.Amicably interact with students and serve as a good example to them.Aid students in need of help and summon emergency assistance if neededIdentify, record, and report information about suspicious persons and/or vehicles, potential traffic problems, road hazards, and motor vehicle violations that jeopardize the safety of the students.Consult weather information for conditions that might cause delayed school openings and early school closings.Additional Job ResponsibilitiesPerforms other duties as required by the supervisor.Serve as a role model to all students.Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District's reputation or image in the community.Refrain from engaging in conduct that interferes with the operations of the District, including the education of students.Develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration.Adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives.Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.Adhere to the code of ethics of the District and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE Rule 27).Position RequirementsThere are no minimum educational requirements.Ability to read and write is preferred.Successful completion of criminal background and health and human services child and adult abuse background check.Successfully complete all district crossing guard training and orientation activities.Essential Functions: The essential functions of the position include: 1.
