Job description
CTE Teacher Technology, Engineering, & Design (TED)Plans and provides for appropriate classroom learning experiences for students. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Additionally, is responsible for maintaining appropriate records and following required procedures and practices as well as monitoring the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.Position: 10-monthSalary: Salary to be determined by the DPI state policy scheduleReports to: PrincipalQualificationsLicensing/CertificationMinimum Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or universityHold or be able to obtain a North Carolina Teachers License in the area 820 TechnologyMust have experience operating 3D printers, laser engravers, desktop cnc, and vinyl cutter equipment. Knowledge of Adobe Suite is an advantage.Possible courses taught Technology, Engineering and Design, Technological Design, and Computer Science.Essential FunctionsTo practice and promote positive interaction with and among studentsTo demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and an interest in studentsTo encourage self-direction and self-motivation in studentsTo demonstrate knowledge of the subject being taughtTo demonstrate the ability to adjust presentation of subject content to students' needs and interestsTo exhibit evidence of effective lesson plans, including the utilization of appropriate materials and resources, varied teaching techniques and learning activitiesTo maintain an effective system of monitoring student progress and to inform appropriate personsTo keep students on task and to use positive reinforcement and constructive criticism to maintain good student disciplineTo comply with school and school board policies and regulationsTo work cooperatively with the total staffTo relate positively to parents and other community representativesTo be prompt and accurate with required records and reportsTo accept responsibilities outside of the classroom as they relate to the schoolTo use instructional and planning time effectivelyTo assume responsibility for care of materials, equipment, and facilitiesTo assume responsibility for a neat, safe environment for students committed to the teacher's careTo perform other job-related tasks as assigned by the Principal or designeePhysical DemandsMust be able to use a variety of office equipment and classroom tools such as computers, scanners, fax machines, and copiers. Must be able to communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for sedentary work.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor classroom conditions and regularly works near a video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work is typically performed in a classroom setting. Daily contact is made with all classified employees, teachers, administrators, and students in person.FLSA Status: ExemptThis job description will be reviewed periodically as duties and responsibilities change with business necessity.
