Job description
CustodianJob Goal: To provide students and staff with a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for learning.Reports To: Director of Building & Grounds (collaborates with building administration)Performance Responsibilities:Closes the building each night, making sure that all doors and windows are secured and lights turned off, and arms security alarmKeeps all areas assigned on work schedule neat and clean at all times and reports all lights needing repairRepairs or reports any observed need for repairs or property damage to head custodian via CMMSComplies with all applicable regulations for the storage and disposal of wastes and the collection of recycle materialsAdjusts work hours to assist Head Custodian during days when school is not in session or for other special event daysMaintains a working knowledge of building alarm systemsChecks all assigned rooms to ensure all electrical appliances have been turned offOpens and closes designated sections of building at the request of building principalReports any violation in contractual agreement for rental of school facilities to building principal and/or Director of Building and GroundsComplies with all applicable regulations for storage of fuel and fuel containing equipmentAssists Head Custodian during special events with approval of building principalRemoves snow/ice as neededConserves supplies and promotes energy conservationCleans and maintains all tools and equipment after each use (i.e. Snow blower, salt spreader, vacuums, floor machines, hand tools, water vacs, etc.)Monitors that the sweeper (if applicable) gets his/her areas completed satisfactorily on "school in session" nightsMaintains a working knowledge of electrical panels, utility shut offs, and boiler controlsRemains in the building or on school premises during assigned work schedule unless given specific permission to leave by building administratorEnsures all classroom lights are working properlyCommunicates absence to Head Custodian, Buildings and Grounds Assistant, and enters absence into AESOPComplete required safety trainingsPerforms other tasks as assignedTerms of Employment: Twelve month year.Salary: In accordance with the Custodial Negotiation Agreement with the South Berwyn Education Association.Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
