Job description
Custodial Maintenance PositionThis position is responsible for the custodial maintenance of campus buildings and facilities. This position is designated by the College as Essential Personnel. Some overtime and weekend work may be required.Responsibilities:Cleans buildings, classrooms, restrooms and drinking fountains.Dusts and cleans chalkboards and offices and flat surfaces; washes windows, walls, glass doors, and classroom equipment; may work from a ladder; polishes brass.Collects and empties trash.Sweeps, mops, buffs, strips, and waxes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets.Reports damaged structures and equipment; maintains entranceways to buildings.Moves office furniture and equipment; assists in setting up facilities for special events.Performs related work as required.Required Qualifications:Must be able to report to work on time and be dependable in attendance.Must possess a current valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report review.Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug testing.Proposed Salary: $ 21,454 / yearlyKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:ABILITIES - Ability to exercise care in the exposure to chemical, mechanical or electrical hazards. Ability to follow routine oral and written instructions. Ability to work long hours at manual tasks and to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. Ability to work while intermittently standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. Ability to work in an office or stockroom, in a variety of college buildings, and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious disease, or irritant chemicals. Works requires the use of protective devices such as masks, googles, gloves, etc. Ability to operate golf cart and/or company vehicle KNOWLEDGE - Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and tools used in custodial services. Knowledge of and ability to use related equipment including, but not limited to, rotary buffers and carpet extracting machines. Knowledge of safe work practices.
