Job description

Custodian PositionMission: The Auditorium Theatre, an Illinois not-for-profit organization, is committed to presenting the finest in international, cultural, community, and educational programming to Chicago and to the continued restoration and preservation of the National Historic Landmark Auditorium Theatre.Position summary: The custodian position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall aesthetic appearance of the Theatre and the surrounding facility grounds, while also delivering exceptional guest services to all Theatre guests.Major areas of responsibilities:Sanitize, clean, and stock restrooms prior, during, and after events, including Front of House and Back of House areasMaintain cleanliness of office spacesCollect and take out trash and recyclingClean wood, linoleum, tile and other flooringShampoo and vacuum rugs and carpetsDust and sterilize all surfaces, including door handles, banisters, railings, and seatingWash exterior and interior windows and sidewalks and Theatre wallsHandle clean-up of any spills or accidents during an eventUse special custodial equipment: commercial vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleanersSet up and break down tables and chairs for special eventsDistribute program boxes to all levels of the TheatreRequirementsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Previous custodial experience working in a Theatre environmentKnowledge of chemical cleanersMust be receptive to working outside in inclement weather and extreme temperaturesAvailable to work a flexible schedule, including evening, weekend and Holiday hoursWork successfully in a fast paced and loud environmentAble to lift and carry 50 lbsRequired to stand for long periods of time and walk up and down stepsComfortable with heightsStrong spirit of optimism and collaboration.Active commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA)The Auditorium Theatre is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
