Job description
Custodian High School (8 Hours)Reports To: Building Manager and Building PrincipalQualifications:Possess a High School DiplomaDemonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Products and other office equipment or softwareProficiency on the District administered testValid Driver's License with clean driving recordRequirements:Ability to communicate effectivelyAbility to understand and follow oral and written instructions with limited supervisionAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill, efficiency, safety, and careAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsDemonstrate aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilitiesResponsibilities:Participate in general cleaning and maintenance of school buildings under the supervision of the Building ManagerKeep buildings, sidewalks, driveways, and play areas cut, trimmed, always maintained and free of debrisShovel, plow, treat driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriateSweep classrooms daily and dust furnitureClean corridors after school daily and during the day, if necessaryDisinfect toilets daily; clean sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains dailyWash all windows on both inside and outside at least twice a year, more frequently if necessaryMake minor building repairs of which he/she is capable; report major repairs needed to the Building ManagerRemain on premises during regular working hours unless authorized to leave by the building principalAuthorization must be requested and granted on an individual basis per eventAssume responsibility for opening, closing and general security of the building each school day; determines that doors and windows are locked and all lights, other than for security, are turned offKeep inventories of supplies, equipment, fuel on hand; requisitions needed replacement through Building Manager in advance of needMove furniture or equipment within the building as requiredComplies with local laws and procedures for storageAssume responsibility for general fire safety of the buildingLoad and unload delivery trucks with supplies that belong to the buildingPerform other duties normally attributed to the position as directed by the Building Manager or Building PrincipalPerforms such other tasks as directed by the Building Principal, Building Manager, or designeeTerm of Employment: 12 months; Hourly wage per contractEvaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of the School District's evaluation system of support service personnelNote: The above listed responsibilities are distributed based upon location, shift, and schedule. It is understood that all custodians are not necessarily responsible for all items listed.
