Job description
Custodial Maintenance PositionUnder supervision and direction, performs custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming floors and shampooing carpets, and cleaning and restocking bathrooms while maintaining a courteous and respectful attitude when interacting with faculty, staff, and students. Employee reports to the designated supervisor.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPromote a clean, safe, comfortable, and healthy work environmentDemonstrate dedication to job performance and complete tasks as assignedAccept direction and guidance from supervisory personnelAdhere to work scheduleMaintain clear and concise communication with internal and external stakeholdersPromptly address any cleaning requests from building occupants, like spills, trash issues, or specific cleaning needs.Consistently uphold high cleanliness standardsReport any potential safety hazards to the appropriate supervisorBe flexible to adjust cleaning routines based on changing needs or unexpected situationsClean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas to meet health standardsClean rugs and carpets and sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floorsWash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodworkClean restrooms and replenish restroom suppliesEmpty wastebasket and transport trash and waste to disposal areasChange light bulbs when directedCheck and secure all windows and doors when directedDisinfect equipment and suppliesEnsure operation of equipment, tools, and materials are handled in a safe and efficient mannerMix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.Visually inspect equipment for needed repairImmediately report damage to campus property and maintenance problems to the appropriate supervisorMay assist with snow removal and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activitiesContributes to the overall success of the campus by performing all other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDCustomer-service orientedExperience in general cleaning and maintenanceExperience in using cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutionsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to manage time and schedulesAbility to foster a cooperative work environmentAbility to lift and carry heavy objectsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and writtenAbility to complete routine paperworkAbility to safely use cleaning equipment and suppliesAbility to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety rules and proceduresAbility to work with minimal supervisionWorking Conditions & Physical Demands:Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautionsWork may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noisesMust be able to remain on feet for approximately 90% of workdayClimbing multiple staircases, bending and stoopingFrequent moving and lifting up to 25 poundsOccasionally move and lift more than 50 poundsBest consideration date: October 9, 2026Application Procedure:Required application materials should be uploaded to the "Resume Drop Box" of your application.References will be contacted in conjunction with interviewsEEO Statement: NNMC is an equal opportunity employer.
