Custodian Full-Time, Non-ExemptWe are looking for a responsible custodian to maintain and protect our facilities. This position involves cleaning and removing trash from various exhibition area locations, offices, meeting rooms, shops, public areas, and restrooms across multiple buildings. This role works on weekends, holidays, and special events on a rotating schedule. This position is classified as essential and may be asked to participate in all emergencies, ice/snow removal, and special events.Compensation: Starting at $16.00 - $17.00 /hourExpected Hours: 40 hours/week to include some weekends, holidays, and evening shiftsPrimary ResponsibilitiesCleans offices, kitchens, common areas, and restroomsMaintains appropriate supply levels and inventories at all locationsMaintains all cleaning equipment. Uses proper care with all chemicals and equipmentSurveys all facilities for routine and emergency maintenance. Makes minor repairs and/or submits service orders. Installs light bulbs/fluorescent tubes when needed.Assists with requirements for special eventsMoves boxes and furnitureResponsible for the performance, quality, and quantity of all work assigned. Compiles a daily record and completes service ordersAssists outside contractors with professional carpet services. Cleans carpets and windows between contractor visitsMay assist maintenance duty personnel in assisting workers on the estate before opening or after closingAssists with the recycling program: is aware of the materials we recycle and disposes of them properlyWorks independently and with a minimum of supervisionConducts all work in accordance with all procedures and guidelinesPractices and maintains safety precautions and procedures in all facilitiesPerforms other related duties as needed and carries out or directs the completion of special assignmentsQualificationsMinimum of one year of custodial experienceMust possess good written and verbal communication skills in EnglishAbility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtimeMust be able to lift 30lbs, push 20lbs, bend, stretch, twist, crouch, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legsEquipment Used: Vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning equipmentWork Environment: Work is conducted in a mix of indoor and outdoor environments, including historic buildings, mechanical rooms, and public spaces. Conditions may include working in tight or elevated spaces, exposure to dust, noise, and occasional temperature extremes.Physical Requirements: The role demands the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds. Regular climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and reaching are required.
