Eastern Carver County Schools' Building and Grounds Department is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for all students, staff and visitors. Our team provides daily support to maintain building systems and structures, service the grounds, provide custodial services, oversee construction and renovation projects, maintain compliance with building and fire codes, safety and environmental regulations, oversee security and fire alarm systems in all buildings.Position Start Date: ASAP Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; September through April (inside; custodian): 2:45pm - 11:15pm, May through August (outside; groundskeeper): 6:00am - 2:30pm Salary: $25.21/hr. + $0.40/hr. (shift differential when applicable) Responsible To: Custodial Supervisor/Head Custodian/District Maintenance SupervisorPosition Purpose: Under general supervision, perform cleaning and grounds keeping tasks utilizing various equipment to care for all the district facilities and grounds. You may be assigned to work at different buildings depending on the needs of the district.Major Job Functions/Specific Tasks:Performs regular custodial duties such as mopping, sweeping, dumping trash, cleaning glass, vacuuming, cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, changing light bulbs etc.Locks and un-locks doors in building according to scheduled activitiesSet-up and clean-up for special eventsShovels snow and / or removes ice as requiredPerforms exterior cleaning duties such as sweeping sidewalks, picking trash etc.Moves furniture and equipment as neededResponds to School Dude work ordersResponds to the needs of building occupants and usersPerforms grass cutting, landscape work, trimmingMaintains irrigation systemsPrepares fields for athletic eventsOperates plows, commercial mowers athletic field equipment etc.Performs daily assigned tasks such as delivers mail to office, puts out trash container and recycle cardboard cart, unlocks designated areas, and any other assigned dutiesAbility to recognize hazards and take safety precautions to eliminate them or report to supervisor for actionResponds to emergencies as neededOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Demonstrated personal dependability / regular attendanceAble to operate commercial grade equipment associated with custodial and grounds operationsDemonstrated mechanical aptitude and abilitiesConflict management skillsAbility to work positively with other building employees and GroupsKnowledge of standard tools, materials, methods and practices involved in building maintenance and groundsBasic computer skillsDemonstrated knowledge of established procedures for OSHA, Fire Marshal, and building maintenanceAble to follow oral and written directionsAble to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationshipsDemonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functionsLifting/Carrying – Up to 10 lbs.
