Job description
CustodianPerforms routine cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and order of County buildings. Work includes sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and restocking supplies in a variety of public facilities.Position Requirements:Education and Experience:The following are the minimum education and experience required for the position. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.Education: HS diploma or GEDExperience: No previous relevant work experience is required.Special Experience: 1 year experience in housekeeping/custodial services, preferredTraining Requisites: Airborne and Blood Pathogen Training, Hazardous Chemical TrainingCertifications: Must possess a valid State Driver's license.Success Framework:Knowledge of cleaning materials and safe handling procedures.Ability to operate cleaning equipment.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.Knowledge of sanitation and infection control.Ability to identify maintenance and safety issues.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Knowledge of proper waste disposal procedures.Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods.Skilled in time and task management.Ability to interact professionally with staff and public.Knowledge of workplace safety regulations.Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely.Ability to adapt to shifting cleaning priorities.Knowledge of facility layout and maintenance routines.Skilled in maintaining confidentiality and security awareness.Equipment and Tools:Computer; Microsoft 365; work order management system; cleaning carts; vacuum; mop; broom; dusters; buffer; step stool; PPE (gloves, goggles, masks); safety signage.Work Environment:May frequently be exposed to uncomfortable temperatures, humidity, noise, chemicals/gases, contagious diseases, airborne particles/pathogens, and/or physical trauma. May be required to work in confined spaces. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to biohazards or bloodborne pathogens.Physical Abilities:Work requires the ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time. Work requires the ability to complete repetitive wrist, hand, and/or fine motor movement. Work requires the ability to grasp, pull, push, and reach. Work requires the ability to climb and balance. Work requires the ability to talk, hear, listen, and comprehend. Work requires the ability to drive and/or operate mechanical equipment. Work requires visual acuity of 20 feet or more, visual acuity of 20 inches or less, three dimensional vision, precise hand/eye coordination, the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
