Job description
CustodianProvide students with a sanitary, attractive, comfortable, hygienic and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.Educational QualificationsValid Texas Driver's License (submit copy with application) preferredMust be able to follow written and verbal instructions in English and/or SpanishMust be dependable and punctualMust be able to maintain good relationship with administration, students, faculty, and the publicMust be able to use custodial machinery including but not limited to floor care equipment, landscaping machinery, and sanitization sprayerMajor Responsibilities and Duties1. Maintain a sanitary environment in the campus/department building, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times working under a schedule outlined by the campus/department Administrator.2. Inspect all exit doors and panic bolts daily to ensure they are working properly.3. Sweep/Mop classrooms, dust furniture and maintain floor areas as directed by the campus/department Administrator4. Clean and disinfects corridors, restrooms, drinking fountains, and doors/windows as directed by the campus/department administrator5. Maintain campus/department grounds litter-free.6. Perform minor repairs when possible and report major repairs needed and/or damages promptly to the campus/department Administrator7. Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and equipment.8. Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.9. Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities as directed by the campus/department Administrator.10. Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during regular business hours to confer with district personnel.11. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job responsibility unless instructed to work from home by supervisor.12. Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.Distance Learning and Virtual Instruction Duties and Responsibilities In the event of a school closure in response to a disaster, flood, extreme weather condition, fuel curtailment, epidemic, pandemic or other calamity, the following duties and responsibilities will be added to the above listed Major Job Responsibilities and Duties, as directed by the Superintendent.13. Usage of personal equipment, including but not limited to personal cellular phone, personal computer, and personal internet service when working from home during a District closure due to government or Board order or during an emergency affecting normal District operations.14. Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.15. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor. All employees are expected to comply with lawful directives.Working ConditionsReading; ability to understand verbal instructions. Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying.
