Job description
Custodian PositionLedyard Public Schools is looking to hire a dependable and skilled custodian. The ability to follow written and oral instructions while relating to students, staff and public in a courteous manner is required and experience with building cleaning, routine maintenance and groundskeeping is preferred. The position requirements include:Knowledge and demonstrated skills related to daily cleaning and building maintenance; including but not limited to operation of floor and restroom cleaning machines, waxing and stripping of floors and general cleaning and disinfectingPrevious experience in custodial routines and procedures preferredGrounds keeping experience a plusGood interpersonal relationship skillsDemonstrated record of reliable performance and attendanceAbility to lift and carry objects of 25 - 50 lbsHours: Monday/Tuesday through Friday/Saturday, may include nightsPay and benefits in accordance with Ledyard BOE and Local 1303 of Council #4 AFSCME, AFL-CIO agreement. Pay: $23.10 per hour Benefits to include: Medical, dental and vision coverage Paid time off 403(b) and 457 retirement plan with employer matchPhysical Requirements of the Job: Frequent walking, bending, twisting and lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks Continuous use of hand strength to grasp tools and cleaning equipment and climb on ladders Push/pull items such as tables, stacked chairs, bleachers, and/or cleaning equipmentFingerprinting / background check is a condition of employment, and at the applicant's expense.To Apply: Applications will only be accepted online.
