CustodianWork Length: 8 hours per dayDays Worked: 260 DaysWork Schedule: Mon - Fri 2:30 pm - 11:00 pmDefinition: Under immediate supervisor, performs work of routine difficulty in performing general custodial services in a school plant, and performs related work as required.Example Of Duties:Sweeps, mops, waxes and scrubs floorsDust, waxes, washes and polishes furniture and woodworkEmpties and cleans waste receptaclesWashes windows and walls, cleans restrooms and classroom heaters and screens, sweeps sidewalks and play areasMoves and arranges furniture and equipmentClean fountainsPolishes metalworkReplaces light bulbsReplenishes suppliesTurns out lights and locks doors and windowsReports the need for repairsWatches buildings to prevent vandalismOperates power cleaning equipmentMay do limited grounds maintenance workMay make minor non-technical repairsDesirable Qualifications:Training and Experience:None requiredKnowledge of:Methods, materials and equipment used in custodial workSkills in:Understanding and carrying out oral and written directionsUsing common cleaning equipmentDoing manual work associated with custodial dutiesAbility to:Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
