CustodianWage/Hour Status: Nonexempt Reports to: Lead Custodian Pay Grade: AUX PG 1 - Starting Salary $15.89/hr Dept. /School: Operations DepartmentPrimary Purpose: Demonstrate success in the cleaning of buildings and grounds, and the ability to get along with school faculty, students, and colleagues.Qualifications:Knowledge of routine custodial practices and methodsKnowledge of equipment, chemicals, and materials used in cleaning processesKnowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenanceMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Records, Reports, and Correspondence:Complete all work assignments assigned by the Lead custodian.Ensure the security of the building.Be responsible for energy management in assigned areas.Maintain clean and orderly closest and storerooms.Report maintenance needs to lead custodian for initiation of work orders.Reschedule work assignments to accommodate meetings or special activities.Get to know the teachers in assigned area and become familiar with their classroom preferences.Work in concert with maintenance personnel to accommodate both maintenance and custodial work schedules.Perform other duties as assigned by the lead custodian, or the Custodial Supervisor or his/her designee.Safety:Ensure proper and safe use of equipment and chemicals.Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to lead custodian.Equipment Used:Buffer, stripper, auto scrubber, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, auto scrubber and shampooer.Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and ladders. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials.
