Custodial StaffForbes named Mesa Public Schools in their list of Best Employers in Arizona for multiple years.East Valley Tribune names Mesa Public Schools as Best Place to Work in East Valley for multiple years.Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week) 2nd Shift Evening (plus $.35/hr shift pay)Base Hourly: $17.12Class/Calendar: A12, 12 monthsBenefits: Vacation, sick leave, holidays, retirement matched through the Arizona State Retirement System, health, and life insurancePerformance Pay: Available annuallyNew Hire Experience: 1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximumNew Hire Education: 1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the positionJob Summary:To perform custodial duties as required by district standards; to maintain the cleanliness and safe conditions of a school environmentKey Responsibilities:Perform custodial duties as required by district standardsPerform many diversified tasks each day to maintain the cleanliness and safe condition of the schoolsOperate custodial power equipmentAssist in moving equipment and furniture as requiredRegular and on-time attendance requiredPerform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unitAssists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public SchoolsRequired Qualifications:Working knowledge and experience of custodial equipment, supplies, and proper cleaning proceduresPreferred Qualifications:High School education or GED preferredSkills & Competencies:Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a GraduateDemonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and communityAbility to work independently, under pressure and follow directionsAbility to perform heavy manual labor as requiredAbility to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff membersSatisfactory work recordAbility to communicate effectivelyWork Environment & Physical Requirements:Custodians work inside classrooms, hallways, restrooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias, and offices, as well as outside maintaining school groundsFrequent use of cleaning solutions, disinfectants, and floor treatments requires proper safety precautionsExposed to high temperatures when working outsideRequires long periods of standing and walking, often covering large areas of the school throughout the shiftFrequently bends to clean floors, pick up trash, and access low areasSweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and other cleaning activities require repetitive arm and hand movementsAbility to lift approximately 50 poundsEqual Opportunity Employer Statement:Mesa Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination.
