Custodian VStarts: September -Month Position; Monday - Friday; 8 hours/day; 8:00am - 4:00pm Salary: $24.83/hour Full Benefits; Year-Round Fully Paid Insurance; Vacation/Sick Leave; PERS RetirementGENERAL DUTIES:Performs as working supervisor of a custodial operationSUPERVISION RECEIVED:Works under the general supervision of an administratorSUPERVISION EXERCISED:Exercises supervision over custodial personnelEXAMPLES OF DUTIES:Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and playgrounds neat, clean and safe at all timesSweeps and cleans classrooms dailyCleans corridors each day as requiredScrubs, disinfects toilet rooms dailyPerforms flag duties dailyOpens buildings and checks daily to insure that all exit doors are openCleans and maintains all boilers, furnaces and other building equipmentHas knowledge of painting, general repairs to plumbing, electrical and all other maintenance being performedAssumes responsibility for general security of buildingPerforms emergency duties of cleaning and building maintenance as necessaryRegulates temperature of buildingWashes windows on outside at least twice per yearPerforms yard keeping dutiesReports to administrator all damage, emergencies, repair requests, supply requests, personnel problems and any other information requested by administratorMaintains a record of service to all mechanical equipment in buildingRemains on the school premises during duty hours and during other hours when state boiler regulations requires the attendance of a licensed operator, also when administrator requestsWill be responsible for personnel training, supervision, follow-up performance checks, payroll sheets, substitutes, and other records pertaining to custodial staffPerforms other related work as requiredMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:KNOWLEDGE:Thorough knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment and supplies; effective methods of supervisionABILITIES:Ability to plan, schedule and supervise work; to establish and maintain effective supervisory and work relationships; to communicate effectively; to deal with publicEDUCATION:High school diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE:One year of experience in custodial work, or any equivalent combination of education and experience; Must have a boilers license in order to applyGo to and click "Employment Opportunities" for either the online application for external applicants or the internal application for internal applicants (currently employed by BPS in a regular or temporary position)."AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER: This employer does not knowingly discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin."Closes: Open Until Filled
