Job Description

Grow with us. Eligible clinicians have the opportunity to earn salary increases of up to 20%* through our Clinical Ladder Program based on experience, professional development, and achievement of advancement criteria.

Clinical Ladder participation is voluntary. Salary adjustments are determined by program eligibility, advancement level, and organizational guidelines.

Up to $20,000 Sign-on Bonus and $3,000 Relocation Assistance available for eligible candidates (see terms below)

*Terms: 12-month Full-time Employment Contract Required for Sign-On and Relocation

Sign-on Eligibility

One (1) year of applicable experience

Internal Candidates and Rehires within 12 months are not eligible

Relocation Eligibility

Must live 50 miles outside of campus address

Rehires that are less than 12 months from separation date are not eligible

Schedule

Fulltime - 40 hours

Shift

Flexible; 5/8's or 4/10's (weekend call requirement)

Primary Job Responsibilities

Monitor performance of nursing staff, provide feedback, conduct appraisals, and implement improvement plans to ensure clinical and professional standards are met.

Foster professional growth by identifying training needs, organizing educational programs, and mentoring staff to enhance their skills and career progression.

Resolve conflicts among staff promptly and effectively using mediation techniques to maintain a positive work environment and ensure team cohesion.

Lead quality improvement initiatives by analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care.

Mentor and precept new staff by providing hands-on training, feedback, and fostering professional development.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to lead the employees within the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit in the delivery of patient care

Ability to lead performance improvement initiatives on the Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit

Ability to think critically in relation to the operations of the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit and delivery of complex patient care

Ability to manage the business of healthcare delivery on the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit

Able to assist and mentor others in relation to the complex technology utilized on the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit

Excellent clinical practice knowledge and is able to apply this knowledge to the unit setting

Ability to influence relationships and behaviors in relation to meeting the needs of the unit

Acts as a role model for professionalism on the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit

Specific skills as delineated by the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit (see competencies)

Education

Associate's of Nursing (Required)

Bachelor's of Nursing (Preferred)

Master's of Nursing (Preferred)

Work Experience

1+ experience in cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, or cardiac ICU setting or cardiovascular operating room experience (Required)

Prior management experience (Preferred)

Additional Information

Successful completion of traineeship for one (1) year minimum.

Registered Nurse (RN) (Required)

Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Required)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) (Required)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) (Required)

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)(Preferred)

Acute/Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist (CCNS) (Preferred)

Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) (Preferred)

Cardiac Surgery Certification (CSC) (Preferred)

Cardiac Medicine Certification (CMC) (Preferred)

Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN) (Preferred)
