I’m partnering with an organization seeking a hands-on, senior-level Cybersecurity Administrator to strengthen its security operations and protect critical infrastructure. This is an opportunity for an experienced IT professional with a strong systems administration background who enjoys investigating threats, resolving security issues, and taking ownership of remediation efforts.

The ideal candidate brings practical experience across cybersecurity operations, infrastructure, and network security—not just certifications or theoretical knowledge. This individual will serve as a key cybersecurity resource, with the opportunity to grow into a leadership role overseeing security operations and cyber defense.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor security alerts, endpoint activity, firewall logs, and cloud environments to identify and investigate potential threats.

Lead incident response efforts, perform root cause analysis, and execute remediation activities to reduce organizational risk.

Manage vulnerability assessments, prioritize security findings, and implement corrective actions across enterprise environments.

Administer and secure Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure, and hybrid infrastructure.

Review and maintain security configurations across systems, networks, endpoints, and cloud platforms.

Coordinate security audits, penetration testing, and data loss prevention initiatives.

Develop and maintain security policies, technical documentation, and reporting to support compliance and security awareness.

Collaborate with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and external vendors to strengthen the organization's overall security posture.

Provide technical leadership and supervise at least one direct report.

Participate in after-hours response efforts for high-priority cybersecurity incidents as needed.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

5+ years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, systems administration, network administration, or cloud administration.

Hands-on experience investigating security incidents, reviewing logs, identifying root causes, and implementing remediation.

Strong foundation in Microsoft infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration.

Experience with vulnerability management and security remediation.

Working knowledge of network administration, firewalls, and network security principles.

Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.

Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical security issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Valid driver's license.

Preferred Technical Experience

Experience with the following technologies and environments is a plus:

Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, and network security

Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Intune

Azure security and Microsoft 365 security

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) administration

SCCM/MECM and SolarWinds

Citrix/NetScaler and Linux administration

CJIS, NIST, and other security or regulatory compliance frameworks

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a hands-on cybersecurity professional who can execute, troubleshoot, and remediate—not simply identify problems or make recommendations. The ideal candidate can clearly articulate security incidents they've personally investigated and resolved, understands the underlying infrastructure, and is comfortable taking ownership of technical challenges. xavwley

This role offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping shape the organization's long-term security operations and cyber defense strategy.
