Job description

MediaAlpha is a customer acquisition solutions provider powered by technology and data science. The company provides industry‑leading solutions designed to reach consumers shopping within high‑consideration categories such as property and casualty insurance, health insurance, life insurance, and more.

Responsibilities

Mine MediaAlpha exchange data to surface quantified revenue‑or margin‑growth opportunities, document in written analyses with estimated financial upside.

Prioritize opportunities using ROI calculations and present ranked backlogs for review to business and analytics stakeholders.

Provide weekly written status updates detailing progress, blockers, and next steps; proactively request resources or escape risks.

Maintain expert‑level knowledge of MediaAlpha exchange functionality, database schema, bidding logic, and platform APIs.

Be a frontline resource for business teams to scope client solutions.

Scope, design, build, validate, deploy and maintain data‑science solutions (models, decision systems, dashboards, ETL pipelines) without day‑to‑day supervisory direction.

Deliver all milestones on the committed timeline in JIRA; deadlines at risk of being missed must be accounted for with advance notice, with justifiable trade‑offs due to other business priorities or unexpected issues.

Write production‑grade Python and SQL that passes peer‑review approval at least 80% of the time; frequent back‑and‑forth or redesigns should be rare (Own Airflow DAGs and data‑pipeline SLAs; resolve issues within four business hours of alert during core hours or within the same calendar day during on‑call/off‑hours rotations.

Maintain professionalism and punctuality; act as the primary analytics liaison for assigned business units, including attending and driving KPI / metrics reviews.

Translate technical findings into concise business recommendations (deck, memo, or live walkthrough).

Qualifications

Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a closely related field, plus 8 years of relevant experience in data science.

Requirements

Three years of experience building and deploying AI models and AI tools in digital media.

Seven years of hands‑on experience developing and deploying machine learning models.

Experience leading cross‑functional projects and collaborating with tech, engineering, data scientists, and product teams.

Experience deploying impactful code in predictive models, data pipelines, and algorithms to production environments with quantifiable business impact.

Knowledge of applying statistical techniques, specifically designing tests/experiments and evaluating results for real‑world business problems.

Proficient in Python and SQL.

Proficient in analytical skills and ability to synthesize large and disparate data sets.

Experience in search, display, performance, and digital marketing or closely related fields.

Proficient in R Shiny, Shiny Server, and Airflow.

Salary Offered

$168,000 – $222,000 per year
