Job description
Berry Appleman & Leiden LLP is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Business Intelligence and Insights Team in Richardson, TX on an onsite basis. In this role, you will apply advanced analytics, statistical methods, machine learning, and AI to turn enterprise data into insights that support strategic decision-making.
Working with data from Cobalt and other firm systems, you will develop predictive analytics and forecasting solutions, build and optimize analytical models, and help expand scalable analytics across the organization.
What you’ll do
Develop predictive models, statistical analyses, and forecasting solutions aligned to business objectives
Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, opportunities, and risks
Perform exploratory data analysis to surface actionable insights and business recommendations
Design and implement measurement methodologies for business performance and operational effectiveness
Use advanced statistical techniques to address complex business problems
Build and maintain analytical models that support firm operations, financial performance, staffing, client service, and practice group initiatives
Develop and optimize data models using data sourced from Cobalt and other enterprise systems
Evaluate emerging analytical tools, machine learning, and artificial intelligence technologies
Create reusable analytical frameworks, tools, and methodologies to support scalable analytics across the firm
Collaborate with internal teams to establish best practices for advanced analytics and model development
Explore, develop, and implement AI-enabled solutions that improve business decision-making and operational efficiency
Use Python and Agentic AI technologies to automate analytical workflows and accelerate insight generation
Identify opportunities to apply machine learning and intelligent automation to business challenges
Support responsible and effective use of emerging AI technologies throughout the firm
Support strategic planning initiatives through data-driven insights and performance analyses
Translate business requirements into analytical solutions that produce measurable business outcomes
Partner with Business Intelligence, Data Governance, and BI Development team members to promote enterprise analytics standards
What you bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Analytics, or a related discipline
Master’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Analytics, Computer Science, or related field preferred
1-3 years of experience in advanced analytics, data science, business intelligence, or related disciplines
Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts
Proficiency in Python for analytics, automation, machine learning, and AI applications
Experience working with Agentic AI, large language models (LLMs), artificial intelligence platforms, or intelligent automation technologies preferred
Strong understanding of predictive modeling, machine learning, statistical methods, and forecasting techniques
Experience working with large datasets, data warehouses, and enterprise reporting environments
Experience with Power BI , Tableau , or other data visualization tools
Experience with Cobalt or similar enterprise business platforms preferred
Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Ability to translate complex analytical findings into actionable business recommendations
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to data quality
Self-starter who can manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
Professional services or law firm experience preferred
Collaborative approach, innovation mindset, and continuous focus on learning emerging technologies and analytical methodologies
