Job description
Applies knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to the development and improvement of processes. Identify limitations, or potential issues with datasets and data types that may impact performance from machine learning algorithms. Re-train models as needed to address new challenges, or novel goals. Aid investigators and stakeholders in the validation of results. Generate detailed reports and presentations. May mentor and train junior staff members.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clean, transform and analyze large datasets in preparation for modeling
Develop and automate predictive and scoring models
Design and development of complex database queries for researchers
Adhere to data quality processes to ensure product is valid and reproducible
Troubleshooting skills
Update and maintain code, continuously improving processes
Work with a team of diverse, motivated individuals toward a shared mission
Strong analytical, time-management, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Experience with translating information requirements into SQL code
Proactive and creative techniques in solving researchers' problems
Positive attitude, ability to work well with others and independently
Proficiency using Python
Ability to learn new applications and packages in a timely manner
Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $85.600 - $105.100
LOCATED ONSITE IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA.
Doctorate degree in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
