Job description
As the Database Administrator (DBA), you are responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, performance, and security of the organization’s database systems. You will ensure data integrity, availability, and reliability for all enterprise applications and reporting systems. The DBA manages database environments, supports business-critical operations, and proactively monitors system performance to prevent disruptions. You will collaborate with application teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors to ensure databases are optimized, secure, and aligned with business and regulatory requirements. As a representative of the Bank, you are required to present a positive and professional image at all times.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related discipline required; or equivalent combination of education and experience
4+ years of database administration experience required
Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar required
Experience with backup/recovery, performance tuning, and high availability required
Experience in financial services or regulated environment preferred
COMPETENCIES
Possess knowledge of database design, data modeling, and normalization
Possess knowledge of database performance tuning and optimization techniques
Possess knowledge of disaster recovery, replication, and high-availability solutions
Possess an understanding of regulatory compliance and data protection
Possess strong SQL and scripting skills
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Possess excellent communication skills
Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
Ability to maintain confidentiality
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Install, configure, and maintain database systems
Monitor performance and optimize databases
Develop and manage backup/recovery strategies
Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions
Ensure database security and compliance
Support development teams with database design and optimization
Execute upgrades, patches, and migrations
Troubleshoot and resolve database issues
Maintain documentation and standards
Support audits and regulatory compliance
Recommend automation and process improvements
Maintain compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements
Consistently support, uphold and model the organization’s core values and standards
Complete other duties as assigned as determined by management to be reasonable and beneficial
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively with vendors, management and employees. Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is essential. Remaining in a stationary position, operating a computer, for extended periods of time is common. Must be able to accurately gather and process verbal and written information and properly prepare or inspect documents. Good manual dexterity is needed for the frequent use of common and mobile office equipment, such as computer terminals, calculators, copiers and telephones. You may be occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds. Occasional out-of-town or overnight travel may be required. Travel to NETN branches may be required. Occasional after-hours work may be required.
