Job Description:

Assent Advisory Group is seeking a Database Architect to support the design, development, integration, and optimization of enterprise database environments supporting federal government programs.

The successful candidate will help design strategies for enterprise database systems, establish standards for database operations, programming, and security, and support the design and construction of large relational databases. The position will also support integration of new systems into existing data warehouse structures and improvement of database performance and functionality.

This is a journeyman-level position requiring 3–10 years of relevant experience in database architecture, database engineering, data warehousing, or related technical disciplines.

Role and Responsibilities:

Design and support strategies for enterprise database systems.

Design, develop, and maintain relational database structures.

Support development and implementation of database architecture standards.

Establish and maintain standards for database operations, programming, security, and data management.

Design and construct large relational databases.

Integrate new systems and data sources into existing database and data warehouse environments.

Analyze database performance and recommend improvements to performance, scalability, and functionality.

Develop and maintain logical and physical data models.

Support database schema design, normalization, indexing, and query optimization.

Assist with data migration, data integration, and system modernization initiatives. Support database security, access controls, data integrity, and governance requirements.

Troubleshoot database and data-integration issues.

Coordinate with software developers, data scientists, business intelligence analysts, systems engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program leadership.

Develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, data dictionaries, and system design documentation.

Support testing, validation, configuration management, and implementation of database changes.

Assist in the development of data warehouse and enterprise analytics environments.

Experience:

3–10 years of relevant professional experience in database architecture, database engineering, database administration, data warehousing, data integration, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience designing and supporting relational databases.

Experience integrating new systems with existing database or data warehouse environments.

Experience analyzing and improving database performance and functionality.

Working knowledge of database security and access-control principles.

Experience developing or maintaining data models and database schemas.

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary technical teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Federal government or Department of Defense experience preferred

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.

Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements where permitted by the contract.

Licenses/Certifications:

Oracle Database certification

AWS Database certification

Microsoft Fabric certification

CompTIA Data+

Other database, cloud, or data engineering certifications

Current federal security clearance preferred but not required for all positions.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust, Secret, or higher clearance if required by the contract.
