Dental AssistantLSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry, Department of Comprehensive Dentistry, is seeking two motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or Dental Assistant 2.Minimum Qualifications: No experience or training required.Job Specification: The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties and Other Information:Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients.Maintain and stock cabinetInstruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniquesChart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium Computer knowledge)Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or studentGive follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or studentPlace rubber dam and directed by dentist or studentRemove cement supragingivally from dental restorations and fixed restorationsKnowledgeable of computers.Appointment Type: Classified AppointmentCareer Progression: This position is part of the career progression group may be filled as a Dental Assistant 1 or 2.Work Schedule: Monday–Friday; 8:30 AM–5:00 PMWork Location: 1100 Florida Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119Compensation:$15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title$14.06 for Dental Assistant 1 titleAdditional compensation:$1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.$2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.$1.50 for EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).Louisiana is a State As a Model Employer (SAME) that supports the recruitment, hiring, and retention of individuals with disabilities.
