Dental AssistantThe Dental Assistant supports the mission of People's Community Clinic by assuring that dental services are delivered in a manner consistent with PCC's strong commitment to high-quality care and strong patient satisfaction.This position works as a member of a care team to coordinate patient care and support patients and families in self-management, self-efficacy, and behavior change. Care team members are expected to assess and manage the health needs of the patient population and to communicate effectively with all patients, especially vulnerable populations.Location: 1101 Camino La Costa, Austin, Texas, 78752Compensation: $18.27 - $22.50 per hour based on experience and qualifications.ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Dental Services Director, this individual's primary responsibilities include:Greet patients, check in for appointments, screen for insurance eligibility, check out, and schedule follow-up appointments as necessary.Prepare patients for treatment or checkups, ensuring their comfort and a positive dental experience.Verify patient health history, record blood pressure, document patient treatment chairside, and document appropriately in the patient's chart, abiding by state and federal laws.Assist dentist/hygienist during treatments and procedures.Clean, sterilize, and prepare the equipment and operatory, including stocking supplies and setting up instruments, per the organization's procedures and guidelines, before a patient's appointment.Expose dental diagnostic x-raysCreate an environment of respect and compassion for patients and staff and support a friendly and positive work environment.Identify opportunities to improve workflow, work processes, and patient care, and work cooperatively to implement these and other quality improvements.Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and Infection control guidelines.QualificationsEducation:High School Diploma/GEDCompletion of a dental assistant program from an accredited schoolExperience: Minimum 1 year experience as a chairside dental assistantCertificate/License:Registered dental assistant, currently licensed in the State of TexasCPR CertifiedX-ray CertifiedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Bilingual in English and Spanish preferredKnowledge of dental equipment, materials, procedures, terminology, and chart preparationExcellent customer service skills and ability to interact effectively with a diverse populationSelf-starter; able to work with minimal supervisionStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills; Patient, flexible, and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentAbility to problem solve and implement solutions for optimal clinic productivityProficiency in MS Word, Excel, and OutlookOur Benefits Include:18 PTO days per year & 11 paid holidaysMajor Medical Health Insurance Coverage.
