nMultiple positions will be filled by consideration of all applicants to this posting. Positions will be filled at the following Minnesota Correctional Facilities (MCFs):

nnnSt. Cloud (1.0 FTE)

nnRush City & Willow River/Moose Lake (0.7 FTE)

n

n nThese positions provide comprehensive restorative and preventative dental care for incarcerated individuals. Responsibilities include:

nnnTakes dental histories of all patients upon admission in order to determine extent of care needed.

n

nnExamines patients and administers tests so that dental malfunctions are discovered.

n

nnPerforms oral surgery as required in order to remedy dental malfunctions.

n

nnInstructs dental assistants so that oral care can be provided to the patient.

n

nnOrders laboratory examinations and analysis, x-rays, and specific medication so that complete dental care is provided.

n

nnKeeps records and makes reports in order to document patients’ dental progress.

n

nnSupervises qualified dental staff in order to deliver efficient service to patients.

n

n nMinimum Qualifications

nTo be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held .

nnCurrent licensure from the Minnesota Board of Dentistry to practice dentistry in Minnesota.

n nApplicants who meet the licensure requirements listed above will be further assessed on the following:

nnnConsiderable knowledge of the principles and practices of general dentistry.

n

nnSkill in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of dental diseases and injuries.

n

nnConsiderable knowledge of recent developments in the field of general dentistry and the characteristics and usages of modern drugs.

n

nnAbility to establish and maintain a dental clinic environment.

n

nnAbility to provide leadership in working with incarcerated individuals.

n

nnAbility to supervise dental assistants and dental therapists in clinical dental practice.

n

n nPhysical Requirements

nThe completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components consist of a tuberculosis screening and/or respirator clearance. The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position. For a copy of the PDA, please email Katie Wynn ( ).

nAdditional Requirements

nThe selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

nEmployment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

nNew employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.

nThe Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) does not participate in E-Verify. The DOC will not sponsor applicants for work visas, including F-1 STEM OPT extensions. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
