Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics and Actuarial Science in the Collegeof Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applicationsfor a tenure-track position in mathematics education, to beginAugust 1, 2027.
The duties in this role include:
Provide instruction for a variety of mathematics and mathematics education courses, including elementary and secondarymethods courses, carrying a teaching load equivalent to 20 creditsper academic year.
Mentor undergraduate students through one-on-one and groupinteractions and independent study opportunities.
Pursue research activities in mathematics education, includingnew research projects, writing/dissemination of research, andpresentation at conferences.
Engage students in research when possible.
As Coordinator of Mathematics Education, provide oversight forall mathematics education courses in keeping content aligned withNCTM and MAA standards and build connections with the mathematicseducation community in the local area.
As department chair, provide leadership to the unit, includingoverseeing curriculum, staffing courses, evaluating and mentoringfaculty, advising the Dean, and serving as liaison to other campusoffices.
Basic Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have completed a PhD inmathematics or mathematics education, or an EdD in mathematicseducation and an MS/MA in mathematics.
PK-12 Educator License Preferred (current or expired)
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to excellence inteaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship.
Applicants must demonstrate effective leadership in managing adepartment.
Salary Range:
The budgeted salary range for this position is $ 72,000 to $88,000.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $72,000 to $88,000.The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined basedon factors including (but not limited to) the selected candidate’sexperience and qualifications, including equivalent years in rank,training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and externalmarket pay for comparable jobs.
