Department Lead (Key Holder)Salk's Hardware and Marine is a family owned and operated multi-store Ace Hardware branch. We are looking for enthusiastic team members who are looking to learn and grow with us.General SummaryThe Department Lead manages overall operations within a specific department and the achievement of company goals and directives. The Department Lead also takes an active responsibility in opening and closing duties.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCustomer ServiceProvide positive representation of the storeProactively assist customers in solving problemsGreet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the storeProvide a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associatesEnsure all calls and pages are answered promptly, courteously and effectivelyHandle customer complaints. Work to resolve problems with the customer and have store's best interest taken into considerationPossess excellent product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.Store OperationsResponsible for opening and closing the store 2-3 times a weekOversee projects specific to their department and assist with special projects within the storeAssist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor sales areasEnsure that weekly price changes and label updates are completed timely and accuratelyAssist in checking in, stocking and delivery to customers of all merchandise within the storeOperate forklift or other lift machineryPerform all other duties as assignedAssist to ensure that cycle counts and negative on hand reports are completed timely and accurately.Assist in ordering and maintaining desirable product inventory levels to ensure in-stocks and store profitabilityAssist with merchandise resets throughout the storeAssist to ensure all signage is current in the storeAssist in presenting a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and promotional and incremental merchandisingLeadershipLead by example; be approachable by all associates and customersParticipate in store meetingsCommunicate any merchandising, cost control or sales ideas to the Store Manager for follow upPrepare and challenge yourself for future advancementExperiencePrevious retail experience requiredHardware experience preferredEducationHigh School or GED equivalent. Completion of NHRA Advanced Course in Hardware Retailing recommended.Physical DemandsStanding, walking, lifting (up to 50lbs) and climbingCompany IntroductionSalk's Hardware & Marine is your local Ace Hardware.
