Job description

Job TitleUnder limited supervision, operates switchboard, maintains paperwork flow, and processes court orders in the District Clerk's office. Hours: Mon-Fri, 8a - 5pmExample Of DutiesEssential duties and responsibilities may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. The job description does not constitute an employment agreement and is subject to change at any time by the employer.Customer service – will have direct contact with the public in person and by phoneMaintain accurate records of all documents and filesAssist attorneys, court staff, and/or the public in accessing case recordsAnswer phones and direct calls to proper departmentsOpen, file stamp, and sort incoming mailReceipt and maintain payment recordsProcess court pleadings, orders, bench warrants, capias, subpoenas, summons, issue civil/family service and other various correspondenceOpen, close, and audit a tillMaintain confidentiality of records as required by lawFile and process paperwork filed over the counter, through the mail (USPS), and/or through the electronic service providersAssist the public with the public computersAny other duties assigned by the District Clerk or designeeQualificationsEducation, experience and training guidelines: High school diploma or equivalent or at the discretion of the District Clerk or designee. Special requirements/knowledge, skills & abilities:The ability to read and comprehendCommunicate effectively, both orally and in writingEstablishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with judges, managers, supervisors, employees, external public agencies and organizations, attorneys' law firms, bail bond companies, process servers and the general publicUsing initiative, discretion and decision making within established procedures, guidelines and rulesPerforming various mathematical calculationsPerforming effectively under stressful working conditionsProviding effective customer serviceMulti-taskingOperating a personal computer and various software applicationsLicense & certification requirements: None required. Physical demands and working environment: Work is performed in an office work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
