About the Role
This is a hands-on creative leadership role at an early-stage ambient intelligence AI startup. As Design Director, Branding, you'll shape how the company is perceived and experienced in the market — translating brand strategy into compelling visual systems, campaigns, and narratives that resonate across every touchpoint. You'll work closely with Brand, Marketing, Product, and Leadership teams to influence company perception through strong design taste and judgment.
This role is ideal for a strategic design leader who loves both the big picture and the craft — someone equally comfortable setting direction and rolling up their sleeves to execute at a high standard.
What You'll Do
Develop and evolve the visual identity across brand, marketing, product, communications, and content channels.
Translate brand strategy into clear visual systems, narratives, campaigns, and customer experiences.
Create high-quality visual assets including launch materials, presentations, campaign creative, social content, web pages, and brand collateral.
Build design concepts that make complex technology clear and culturally relevant to the target audience.
Shape visual storytelling for key company moments and establish scalable design principles for consistent branding.
Partner with Marketing and Product teams to support business goals while maintaining brand integrity.
Collaborate with Leadership to strategically influence market perception through creative direction.
What We're Looking For
Required:
8+ years of design experience specializing in brand identity, visual systems, campaigns, and creative direction.
Demonstrated ability to translate brand strategy into visual systems, campaigns, narratives, and customer experiences.
Proficiency creating high-quality visual assets across launch materials, presentations, campaigns, social assets, web pages, and brand content.
Experience developing and evolving visual identity systems across multiple channels (brand, marketing, product, communications, content).
Ability to establish design principles and visual storytelling frameworks that scale across organizational touchpoints.
Strong track record of cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Product, Brand, and Leadership stakeholders.
Deep understanding of how brand strategy shapes market perception and product experience.
Portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution of design concepts and brand systems.
Comfort operating in fast-paced startup environments with high creative standards.
Nice to Have:
Prior experience with luxury, DTC (direct-to-consumer), wellness, or technology brands.
Experience making complex technology feel accessible and culturally resonant through design.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $150,000 – $170,000 USD annually
