Job description
Job TitleUnder general supervision, is responsible for the custody of all inmates in the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center, maintaining their security during their time of incarceration and assuming responsibility for all their needs during detention while utilizing the principles of Direct Supervision.Essential Job FunctionsCustody and control of inmatesSecurity of facilitiesPhysical movement of inmatesAll inmate recordsComplete facility logsPull and search all inmates leaving the facilitySearch inmate workers before housingSearch and locate all new intakesConduct shakedowns and inspections of cellsSeizes property found during cell inspectionComplete record of property accepted in and after incarcerationEnforce contraband control and inmate rulesObserve inmates and inmate workers for abnormal conditions and corrects situations immediatelyInspect facility and kitchen for cleanliness and take appropriate action to correctInspect facility and kitchen areas and report all maintenance problems and unsafe conditionsInspect cleaning materials and supplies that enter podsAssist nurse on pill runsPull and search inmates for sick calls, doctor visits, dental visits, church services, and OED classesCheck and search, if necessary, all visitorsObserve inmate visitationOversee inmate exerciseObserve commissary distributionFeed inmatesComplete and issue property/money release authorizationsDistribute and collect inmate requests for legal materials, visitor cards, inmate worker status applications, incoming and outgoing mail, and library materialsReview, answer, and distribute inmate's requests and grievancesAssign work to and supervise inmate workersEnsure all inmates have routine access to showersDistribute hygiene products, clean clothing, clean linens, and clean bedding to inmatesReport any criminal intelligence to supervisorsSafeguard keysDirectly oversee inmate workers as assignedPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
