Job description

The Development Director leads Intuit Art Museum’s comprehensive fundraising strategy in partnership with the President and CEO and the Board of Directors. As a leader in fostering a culture of philanthropy, the Director cultivates relationships withmajor donors, drives fundraising initiatives and spearheads a message of impact across the organization.

The Development Director reports to the president and CEO and supervises a full-time development associate and a part-time grant writer.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborates with the President and CEO and Board Development Committee to establish fundraising goals and strategies that align with Intuit’s strategic priorities and inspire donor support.

Manages a personal portfolio of 50–75 donors and prospective donors.

Partners with volunteer leaders and the President and CEO to cultivate and solicit major donors and prospective donors. This includes creating and maintaining written prospect strategies for the President and CEO’s assigned prospects as well as their own.

Serve as staff liaison to the Development Committee of the Board of Directors, supporting its work and advancing its fundraising priorities.

Coordinates and manages the Young Professionals Board.

Monitors fundraising progress against key benchmarks, evaluates performance reports, and communicates progress, challenges and opportunities with key partners to ensure alignment and informed decision-making.

Oversees the Development staff and budget.

Maintains a rigorous calendar of cultivation and stewardship efforts, including a mailed and digital Impact Report and year-round donor engagement efforts.

Leads the planning and implementation of special fundraising initiatives and campaigns in support of the Museum’s long-term strategic goals.

Leads the development department’s operational infrastructure, including establishing and maintaining policies and procedures, ensuring effective use of the donor database/CRM, and implementing systems that support accurate reporting, donor stewardship and fundraising success.

Membership

Provides strategic leadership and oversight of the membership program by setting goals and strategies for member acquisition, retention and stewardship; supervising program implementation; and monitoring performance to drive membership growth, engagement and revenue.

Foundation, Government and Corporate Support

Provides strategic oversight of the grants program by setting funding priorities, guiding grant strategy and proposal development, fostering cross-departmental collaboration, and supporting foundation relationships to advance organizational goals.

Gala

Leads all aspects of the Museum’s annual fundraising gala, from strategic planning and fundraising to budget management, committee leadership, vendor coordination and event execution.

Other responsibilities

Collaborates effectively across departments to foster a positive, team-oriented culture and advance the Museum’s mission.

Demonstrates flexibility by assisting with organizational priorities and special projects as needed.

Works occasional evenings and weekends to support donor cultivation, fundraising events, board meetings and other Museum programs.

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fundraising.

Demonstrated success developing fundraising strategies, achieving revenue goals and managing donor relationships.

Experience supervising staff, leading volunteers and board committees, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent communication, organizational, leadership and relationship-building skills; proficiency with donor database/CRM systems and Microsoft Office.

Museum, arts or cultural nonprofit experience preferred.

Schedule

This is a hybrid position requiring consistent in-person presence and remote work flexibility.

Flexibility for day, evening, weekend and select holiday availability is required.
