Job description
About Anderson Ranch Arts Center
For more than five decades, Anderson Ranch has been a home for art-making in the Rocky Mountains. What began among renovated 19th-century cabins and barns has grown into a 55,000-square-foot campus of studios, a gallery, and gathering spaces nestled in the peaks above Aspen/Snowmass.
Every year, aspiring and internationally renowned artists travel here to test new ideas across ceramics, woodworking, photography, digital fabrication, painting, sculpture, and printmaking. Our mission is simple and enduring: to foster transformative educational experiences and community, embracing traditional and contemporary art making on our vibrant campus.
We believe art changes lives. The person in this role helps make that possible.
The Role
The Development Senior Manager / Director leads our National Council membership and Annual Fund programs, driving growth, renewal, and unrestricted giving.
This is a role for a planner and an organizer who knows that success lives in the details - the follow-up after a renewal call, the seating chart at the Gala, the thank-you note that arrives on time.
You'll lead a small development team while staying hands-on with the work. You'll also partner with our events staff and vendors to bring five signature fundraising events to life:
The Ranch Gala
The Community Picnic
The National Council Summer Celebration
The Winter Benefit Dinner
The President's Weekend gathering
Expect to be present - on campus, at events, and in the community - energized by the rhythm of the Ranch's fundraising calendar.
Core Responsibilities
National Council – Membership, Stewardship & Growth
Lead strategy, stewardship, renewal, and growth of the National Council. Build strong one-on-one relationships, deepen member engagement, and identify new prospects through supporters, workshop participants, and event attendees.
Annual Fund
Own year-round strategy and solicitation for unrestricted individual giving below National Council levels. Develop multi-touch renewal and acquisition campaigns that blend broad communications with targeted, personal outreach.
Team & Staff Management
Directly supervise 1-2 development staff. Provide day-to-day direction, performance management, and professional development while coordinating with senior leadership on donor strategy and priorities.
Systems & Reporting
Maintain development systems, activity tracking, and reporting—including Raiser's Edge data integrity—to support accurate pipeline tracking and revenue reporting against goals.
Community Presence
Serve as an ambassador for Anderson Ranch. Attend fundraising and cultivation events (including some evenings and weekends), engage with guests, and represent the Ranch in the wider community.
At the Ranch, we believe "Everyone is in Development." This role mentors colleagues across every team to help strengthen the relationships that advance our mission.
What We're Looking For
Excellent written and verbal communication—able to articulate our mission to diverse audiences
Strong organizational skills and genuine attention to detail
Authentic relationship-building and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, juggle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
A real passion for the arts and our mission
Discretion with confidential information
Education & Experience
3-5 years (Senior Manager) or 6+ years (Director) in nonprofit fundraising
Solid experience in membership/annual giving and event-based fundraising
Substantial direct fundraising experience required
Familiarity with philanthropy in the Roaring Fork Valley strongly preferred
Note: This role requires a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed, with especially busy summer months.
Base Salary: $90,000 - $130,000, based on skills and experience
Total Compensation Package Value: $102,000 - $142,000
Company-paid medical insurance (option to add family)
Company-paid HSA contribution
Long- and short-term disability and life insurance
Up to 20 days PTO in your first year, plus paid sick leave
Professional and continuing education support
403(b) retirement plan with employer match after one year
Employment requires successfully passing a pre-employment background check. All inquiries remain strictly confidential.
