Job description
Make a meaningful impact by supporting students with hearing differences as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing in an educational setting close to Gretna, LA. Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
Experience working with children and adolescents with hearing impairments
Strong knowledge of assistive listening devices, American Sign Language (ASL), and alternative communication methods
Ability to assess and adapt curriculum materials to accommodate individual learning plans
Solid communication and organizational skills
Compassionate approach with a commitment to fostering student independence and participation
Key Responsibilities: Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss, tailoring teaching strategies to individual strengths and needs
Collaborate closely with general educators, speech-language pathologists, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Advocate for best practices in classroom acoustics and use of technology to enhance access
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Stay current with professional developments in deaf education and relevant instructional methods
