Job description
Empower and inspire students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing-playing a crucial part in their academic success and personal growth. In this specialized contract role, you'll deliver tailored instruction and support to students with hearing needs. Leverage your expertise to foster communication skills, encourage independence, and create inclusive, accessible classroom environments near West Jordan, UT.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
Experience working with children in educational settings, particularly those who are deaf or hard of hearing
Strong understanding of various communication modalities (e.g., ASL, cued speech, oral communication)
Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Collaborative mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Passion for advocacy and fostering accessible learning opportunities for all students
Key Responsibilities: Develop and deliver differentiated instruction in alignment with students' IEP goals
Use evidence-based strategies to support language development and communication
Advocate for appropriate accommodations and technology within the school environment
Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support teams to facilitate student success
Provide consultation and training to staff on best practices for working with deaf and hard of hearing students
Track and report student progress, adapting instructional plans as needed
