Diamond Processing AssociateA leading auction house in New York City is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and driven Graduate Gemologist, or similar, to join our fast-paced and collaborative team. This full-time, in-house role plays a critical part in preparing diamonds for our monthly auctions. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, thrives in a structured environment, is highly computer literate, and is eager to learn and grow within the diamond and auction industry.This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in accuracy, operates with a strong sense of ownership and accountability, and is motivated to develop their expertise and responsibilities over time.Position OverviewReporting to the Processing Team Manager, the Processing Associate will support the intake, evaluation, and preparation of inventory for our Melee and Single Stone Auctions. The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, proactive in identifying and resolving issues, comfortable working with data and internal systems, and committed to maintaining precise operational standards.Key ResponsibilitiesReceive and process incoming diamond inventory for upcoming auctionsMaintain accurate tracking of all inventory using internal databases and systemsAssist in catalog creation, ensuring precise and complete data entry of all submission detailsCoordinate with internal teams on auction logistics, timelines, and inventory readinessConduct preliminary gemological assessments, including color and clarity grading, diamond testing, Sarin measurements, and treatment checksRecommend stones for third-party certification when appropriateCoordinate shipments to and from clients before and after auctionsPerform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of all recordsProactively identify discrepancies, missing information, or operational inefficiencies and help resolve themHandle all inventory with a high level of professionalism, discretion, and careSupport continuous improvement of internal processes and tracking systemsDeliver professional and courteous service to clients and trading partnersQualificationsGraduate Gemologist (GG) preferred; Graduate Diamonds or AJP designations also consideredProficiency in grading loose diamonds (color and clarity) preferredHighly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracyStrong computer skills, including comfort working with databases, spreadsheets, and internal systemsProactive and self-motivated, with the ability to anticipate needs and take initiativeAbility to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrates professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment when handling valuable inventoryPositive attitude and genuine interest in learning and growing within the industryWhat We OfferOpportunity to work at the forefront of the global diamond industryHands-on exposure to a wide range of diamondsCollaborative, fast-paced, and team-oriented environmentOpportunity for professional development and long-term growthAbout the Rapaport Group: The Rapaport Group is an international network of companies providing added value services that support the development of fair, transparent, competitive and efficient diamond and jewelry markets.
