Job description
Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, is now hiring a safety conscious Diesel Mechanic to join the team at our location in Seward, AK! Previous waste experience would be a huge plus!
nThe pay range will be $ per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Tool and boot allowance. Medical, Dental and Vision. 401k and 3 weeks of PTO. We also offer regular wage increases.
nThe schedule will be Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays as needed. The shift will be from 7am to 4pm with a 1 hour lunch.
nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
nnnPerform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services. Performs inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
n
nnUtilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
n
nnComplete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
n
nnReviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
n
nnConducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
n
nnPerforms service calls for emergency breakdowns.
n
nnMaintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
n
n nResponsibilities Include:
nnnCollaborate with other diesel technicians and has strong interpersonal skills
n
nnDemonstrates time management, organization, and problem-solving skills
n
nnStrong customer service skills with drivers
n
nnManage the repairs of electrical and mechanical components
n
nnManage routine maintenance
n
nnEnsure quality repairs are made while meeting guidelines
n
nnService a wide variety of equipment
n
nnMaintain current CDL license to test drive and deliver as needed
n
nnSpecialize in Cummins and Paccar engines
n
nnMaintain a log in computer system of all the history of repairs to each job
n
nnMaintain equipment in clean and working condition
n
nnClimb ladders and stairs, work in small restrict areas and lift up to 40 pounds
n
nnFollows all Waste Connections repair shop regulations and standards
n
n nQualified candidate must have:
nnnTool set, toolbox and proper personal safety equipment required
n
nnBasic computer skills and ability to learn test diagnostic laptop and software
n
nnClass B CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of start of position
n
nnYellow Iron experience is a huge plus
n
nnWelding experience a plus
n
nnMinimum of a High School diploma or GED
n
