Job type: Full-time, on-site
Compensation: $28–$33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
nPosition Summary:
nSummit Drilling is seeking a Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician to maintain and repair a mixed fleet of commercial diesel trucks, heavy construction equipment, yellow iron, off-road machinery, and drilling-support vehicles.
nThis position performs preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, diagnostics, and major and minor repairs in shop and field environments. Work includes diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, steering, transmissions, fuel systems, clutches, and cooling systems.
nA Class A CDL is not required at hire. Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain one through Summit’s CDL training and support program.
nResponsibilities:
nnInspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks, heavy equipment, off-road machinery, and drilling-support vehicles.
nPerform preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, safety inspections, and post-repair equipment testing.
nDiagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, brake, steering, transmission, fuel, clutch, and cooling systems.
nUse company-provided diagnostic software, testing equipment, service information, and electrical tools to identify equipment problems.
nRepair, rebuild, or replace engines, components, and other defective parts using personal mechanic tools and company-provided specialty equipment.
nRespond to equipment breakdowns and road-service calls in shop and field environments.
nComplete repair orders, inspection records, maintenance documentation, and parts-usage records accurately.
nCommunicate equipment status and safety concerns to the Shop Foreman while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
n nRequired Qualifications:
nnAt least two years of professional diesel-shop or fleet-maintenance experience.
nHands-on experience repairing heavy equipment, commercial trucks, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, yellow iron, or other off-road machinery.
nWorking knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, brake, steering, and cooling systems.
nAbility to diagnose equipment problems and complete repairs with limited supervision.
nExperience performing preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
nValid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company requirements.
nReliable transportation to and from the Fort Mill office.
nWillingness and eligibility to obtain a Class A CDL.
nPersonal set of professional mechanic tools appropriate for the position.
nAbility to read service information, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals and maintain accurate repair documentation.
nCommitment to safe, dependable, and high-quality work.
n n Qualifications:
nnActive Class A CDL.
nDOT inspection experience or certification.
nExperience with diagnostic software, fleet telematics, and advanced hydraulic troubleshooting.
nExperience repairing drilling or environmental-remediation equipment.
nWelding, fabrication, technical-school, OSHA, First Aid/CPR, or related training.
n nWork Environment and Schedule:
nnThe normal schedule averages approximately 10 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with overtime based on operational needs.
nInfrequent Saturday or Sunday work may be required. Qualifying weekend work is paid at double time.
nRoad-service calls may occur during or outside normal working hours.
nSome travel and field-repair work may be required. Qualifying assignments include paid driving time from the Fort Mill office, per diem, and company-covered hotels.
nEmployees must have reliable transportation to the Fort Mill office and be comfortable working around machinery, vehicles, noise, oils, fuels, dust, and changing weather conditions while using required PPE.
n nCompensation and Benefits:
nn$28–$33 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and licensure.
