Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Location: On-site, Hybrid, or Remote
Reports To: Lead
Base Compensation Placement Range: $60,000–$66,000
Overview
Sensibly Sprouted is seeking a Dietitian, Developing Practice to build the clinical, operational, and professional capability required to independently perform at the Primary Practice level.
Developing Practice is a temporary developmental patient-facing MNT role for Dietitians who have the foundational capability required to begin delivering Medical Nutrition Therapy but still require additional development before independently performing the complete Primary Practice role.
The Developing Practice Dietitian delivers Medical Nutrition Therapy within defined scope while developing clinical reasoning, patient-management capability, counseling effectiveness, operational proficiency, and consistency through structured training, coaching, feedback, and performance enablement.
This role may be appropriate for Dietitians early in their MNT careers, entering from internship or academic training, or transitioning from other areas of Dietetics where additional outpatient or longitudinal MNT development is needed. Developing Practice Dietitians progressively expand their clinical capability, treatment breadth, independence, and operational effectiveness while learning and applying the Sensibly Sprouted Approach.
About Sensibly Sprouted
Our mission is to deliver a first-class experience driven by relationships, expert care, and life-changing results.
Our vision is to be the number one nutrition provider in the country, serving our communities through advanced technology, the latest research, and the best Dietetics team available.
Our core values guide how we work:
Positivity We approach challenges with optimism and solution-focused thinking.
Performance We balance patient-centered care with business-driven outcomes.
Professionalism We lead by example and uphold the highest standards in every interaction.
What You’ll Do
Deliver Medical Nutrition Therapy within defined scope and in alignment with the Sensibly Sprouted Approach
Develop increasingly independent capability in nutrition assessment and care planning
Build clinical reasoning and patient-management judgment across a growing range of patient presentations
Develop counseling effectiveness, patient engagement, and behavior-change capability
Apply clinical frameworks, protocols, and workflows consistently
Build competency in evidence-based supplementation within role scope
Develop the ability to maintain patient engagement, continuity of care, and appropriate follow-through
Learn to identify and address barriers to patient progress or disengagement
Build and maintain an active patient caseload as capability develops
Develop effective schedule management, responsiveness, and use of available capacity
Complete documentation accurately and on time
Follow applicable billing, coding, scheduling, workflow, attendance, and communication standards
Participate actively in training, coaching, case review, and performance discussions
Receive, apply, and demonstrate sustained improvement from feedback
Expand clinical knowledge and treatment breadth toward complete Primary Practice capability
Demonstrate reliability, accountability, professionalism, organization, and strong communication
What We’re Looking For
Strong candidates demonstrate:
Foundational clinical knowledge and readiness to develop outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy capability
Strong learning ability and responsiveness to coaching and feedback
Developing clinical reasoning and patient-assessment capability
Interest and ability to build longitudinal patient-management skills
Developing counseling and patient-engagement capability
Professionalism, reliability, accountability, and follow-through
Ability to learn and consistently apply clinical and operational standards
Strong organization and communication
Willingness to expand clinical knowledge and treatment capability across a broad range of patient cases
Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development
Alignment with the Sensibly Sprouted Approach and the 3Ps: Positivity, Professionalism, and Performance
Developing Practice may be appropriate both for Dietitians early in their MNT careers and for experienced Dietitians whose prior work provides limited directly transferable outpatient or longitudinal MNT experience. Total years of Dietetics experience do not, by themselves, determine readiness for Primary Practice.
Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate readiness to perform the Developing Practice role and progress toward the complete Primary Practice standard.
Required qualifications include:
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
Applicable state licensure or eligibility for required licensure
Advanced credentials or prior Dietetics experience may strengthen candidacy when they materially support directly transferable MNT capability, but they are not independently required beyond the professional credentials necessary for the role.
Role Structure & Development
Developing Practice is a temporary developmental MNT role designed to build the capability required for Primary Practice.
Dietitians in Developing Practice progressively develop competency across clinical reasoning, counseling, patient management, operational execution, caseload development, treatment breadth, and application of the Sensibly Sprouted Approach.
This is not a management role and does not include formal supervisory authority.
Advancement to Primary Practice is competency-based rather than time-based. There is no minimum time-in-role requirement.
A Developing Practice Dietitian advances to Primary Practice when they demonstrate readiness to independently deliver consistent, high-quality Medical Nutrition Therapy and perform the complete Primary Practice role. Advancement is determined by the Lead based on demonstrated performance across the applicable readiness domains and supporting evidence.
Performance Expectations
Developing Practice Dietitians are expected to demonstrate continuous progress toward independent Primary Practice capability while delivering safe, effective patient care within their current scope.
Performance expectations include:
Increasing consistency and quality in Medical Nutrition Therapy
Progressive development of clinical reasoning and patient-management judgment
Expansion of treatment breadth across an increasingly diverse range of patient cases
Increasing independence in assessment, care planning, intervention, and follow-through
Development of effective counseling and patient-engagement capability
Growth and maintenance of an active caseload
Progressive improvement in productivity and schedule performance
Effective management of calendar, availability, cancellations, and unused capacity
Documentation timeliness and accuracy
Reliable execution of clinical and operational standards
Completion and application of required training
Responsiveness to coaching, feedback, and performance guidance
Continuous improvement in clinical knowledge, treatment capability, and professional effectiveness
Professionalism, accountability, organization, and communication
Compensation
Developing Practice is a temporary developmental role. Base compensation is established at entry based on the candidate's directly transferable MNT experience and capability rather than total years of Dietetics experience alone. Relevant factors include independent MNT capability, clinical judgment, experience managing longitudinal care, familiarity with similar patient populations, operational readiness, and the amount of developmental support expected before Primary Practice readiness.
Placement toward the upper end of the range is uncommon and reflects unusually strong directly transferable MNT capability at entry while the candidate still appropriately requires Developing Practice.
Base compensation does not progress within the Developing Practice range based on development, completion of onboarding, increased proficiency, increased independence, time in role, or progress toward Primary Practice readiness. Successful development is recognized through advancement to Primary Practice, with base compensation increased to the Primary Practice range.
Benefits
Sensibly Sprouted provides eligible team members with a benefits package that includes:
Medical, dental, and vision coverage
Employer healthcare contributions
401(k) retirement plan with a 3% employer non-matching contribution
Paid time off and paid holidays
Professional development support
Employer-paid required professional liability insurance, state licensure fees, and CDR registration and renewal fees where applicable
Selection
Candidates may be evaluated through:
Review of relevant prior education, training, and professional experience
Evaluation of foundational Medical Nutrition Therapy capability
Assessment of clinical reasoning and patient-assessment readiness
Evaluation of counseling and patient-engagement capability
Assessment of learning readiness, coachability, and responsiveness to feedback
Review of operational readiness and professional reliability
A Developing Practice selection interview
The selection process is designed to determine whether the candidate demonstrates the foundational capability and developmental readiness required to succeed in Developing Practice.
Candidates who already demonstrate readiness to independently perform the complete Primary Practice role may instead be considered for Primary Practice.
Final selection for Developing Practice is determined by the Lead based on demonstrated readiness for the role and the level of development required before Primary Practice readiness.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
