Job description

Job TitleAlta Mira is a non-profit organization that has supported individuals with developmental or intellectual delays or disabilities, and their families, since 1985. We provide services for all age groups. We support over 800 children annually through our Early Intervention Program and 1500 adults through our Family Support Services. We employ over 60 employees and 250 independent contractors. We are an excellent employer with a high level of schedule flexibility and very rich benefits. Service-oriented and computer-literate. Familiarity with developmental disabilities. Collaborative working style. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.ExperienceTwo or more years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families preferred. High School required. Associate's degree or higher preferred.Attendance and Punctuality :Notification of absences 24 hours prior to shiftArrival at work within 5 minutes of the scheduled shiftAttendance at staff meetings/trainings (2x monthly)Inform supervisor of any changes in schedule prior to the changeSubmission of timesheets and Leave Requests according to agency policies and proceduresParticipant Interactions :Always ensure participant safetyAssist participants with personal hygiene needsEncourage participants to engage in social activities and community outingsTeach Independent Living Skills (cooking, cleaning, hygiene, money management)Transport participants to outingsSupervise participantsTraining :Attendance at Individual Specific Trainings for Respite Home participantsCompletion of all DDSD training by the given deadlinesCompletion of agency annual training by the given deadlineReview of new participant files prior to working with the participantDocumentation :Monthly paperwork (Attendance Sheets, Petty Cash, fire drills) to be submitted to the supervisor by the first day of the following month.Accurate records of attendance sheets as participants arrive and depart.Petty Cash Receipt form and receipts collected for activities- only during the supervisor's absence.Petty Cash Verification form – only during the supervisor's absence.Medication documentationIncident Reports submitted within the given timeframeMonthly Activity Calendar, weekly menu, and grocery listProgress Notes for each participant at each visitAssist the supervisor with the weekly menu for each participantMileage record – if neededCollection and accuracy of participant Physician's Standing Order and Prescriptive Medication formsCommunication :"Crossover" discussion with co-worker from previous shiftCommunicates respectfully and professionally.Consult with supervisor regarding any concerns regarding participants/familiesVoice messages checked prior to participant's arrival and upon return from activitiesCommunication Log read prior to participants' arrivalSupervisor notification of any urgent/emergency situationsSupervisor notification of any changes in the staff schedule prior to the changeSupervisor notification of any house or van maintenance needsSchedulingEnsure space is available utilizing the Weekly Schedule BookAssess the appropriate staff-to-participant ratio based on the needs of participantsConsult with supervisor regarding any special circumstances, including emergenciesHousehold Duties :Bathrooms cleanedFloors swept/vacuumed/moppedTrash emptiedLaundry completedKitchen table clearedDishes, countertops, stovetop, and microwave cleanedDustingBasic maintenance of groundsVan cleaning and gas tank filledAt Alta Mira Specialized Family Services, we value the diversity of our workforce and actively seek opportunities for incorporating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within our agency.
