Direct Support Professional 19The Direct Support Professional 19 (DSP 19) provides school-based psychiatric rehabilitation services to youth with mental health needs. The DSP supports clients in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, social functioning, and school-related life skills to improve overall functioning and academic engagement. Services are delivered according to each client's IRP and documented in Medicaid-compliant progress notes.This is a structured, school-based Fee-for-Service position aligned with client authorizations and school schedules. The DSP 19 will be assigned a fixed caseload of ten (10) youth clients enrolled in PRP services. Five clients receive services three times per week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) and five clients receive services two times per week (Tuesday/Thursday). All services are delivered on-site within the school setting and must comply with Medicaid PRP regulations and individualized rehabilitation plans (IRPs).Compensation for this position ranges from $15.00 to $25.00 per hour, and is commensurate with experience, expertise, verified credentials, and available company budget.The DSP 19 provides school-based psychiatric rehabilitation services to youth with mental health needs. The DSP supports clients in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, social functioning, and school-related life skills to improve overall functioning and academic engagement. Services are delivered according to each client's IRP and documented in Medicaid-compliant progress notes.Scheduled duties and responsibilities include providing one-on-one PRP skill-building sessions in the school setting, supporting development of emotional regulation, coping strategies, and social skills, assisting clients with school-related functional skills and age-appropriate ADLs, reinforcing recovery-oriented goals outlined in the IRP, delivering billable PRP services according to assigned schedule and service authorizations, submitting accurate, timely progress notes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), and completing documentation in real time or before the end of each service day.Unscheduled duties and responsibilities include responding to emerging student needs during the school day, participating in trainings, supervision, and interdisciplinary team meetings, assisting clients during urgent community needs (housing crises, legal matters, emergency appointments), supporting engagement efforts including wellness events and outreach, reporting client safety concerns immediately to supervisors, maintaining HIPAA, confidentiality, and trauma-informed practices, and collaborating weekly with the client's therapist and RN case manager and submitting a collaboration note in the EHR.Physical demands include frequent walking throughout school buildings, ability to stand, sit, and move between classrooms, ability to lift up to 20 lbs, ability to respond appropriately to behavioral situations, and use of PPE as required.Working conditions include school-based service delivery, direct engagement with youth experiencing behavioral health challenges, requires adaptability and professionalism, and must comply with Medicaid, PRP, and school documentation standards.Competencies and skills include strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work respectfully with diverse populations, understanding of PRP and psychiatric rehabilitation concepts, organization, dependability, and time management, ability to produce accurate EHR documentation, flexibility to meet clients in dynamic community settings, and strong working knowledge of COMAR and Medicaid PRP standards (or willingness to learn).Level of education/training/qualifications include high school diploma or GED required. For those working with minors, at least a bachelor's degree is required. At least 1 year of experience working in behavioral health, social services, or human services preferred. Must pass background check and complete PRP observation by supervisor of 20 hours and 40 hours of training. CPR/First Aid certification required (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire). Valid driver's license and reliable transportation strongly preferred. Must be able to complete and submit timely, accurate progress notes using required PRP service codes.
