This role assists individuals with daily living skills, community integration, personal goals, independence development, safety, and overall quality of life. Services may include personal assistance, independent skill development, and community integration activities tailored to each individual's needs and support plan.The Direct Support Professional 2 position offers:Employee Assistance Program – 24/7 counseling services, legal assistance, & financial consultation for you and your household at no costCareer Advancement & Wage Growth - Grow in your career with great opportunities for upward mobility and added incomeComprehensive Training - Learn and develop skills with our robust on-the-job trainingWorkplace Culture - An environment cultivating employee wellbeing, valuing each individual's humanity, and actively promoting healthy, joyful workforce engagementOpportunity to make a direct impact on the independence and quality of life of individuals servedMeaningful one-on-one interactions and relationship buildingCommunity-based work that offers variety and engagement throughout the dayOngoing opportunities to develop skills supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesKey Responsibilities:Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and increasing independence at home and within the communityAssist individuals with daily living activities, personal care, household tasks, recreation, community participation, and appointments as outlined in their support plansTeach and reinforce independent living skills including personal hygiene, money management, meal preparation, medication management, safety, and wellness practicesAccompany individuals to community activities, appointments, religious services, and other meaningful eventsImplement individualized support plans and safety plans while providing quality, person-centered servicesDocument progress toward goals and maintain accurate daily service records and residential notesManage client funds appropriately by maintaining receipts and completing required ledger documentationConduct and participate in safety drills and emergency preparedness activities as requiredComplete required reports and documentation in accordance with state guidelines and agency requirementsAttend required meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunitiesMaintain required certifications and perform additional duties as assignedEducation, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:High school diploma or GED requiredOne year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferredIn lieu of experience, successful completion of Missouri Quality Outcomes training approved by the Division of Developmental Disabilities regional officeKnowledge of service delivery practices supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesBasic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentationStrong verbal and written communication skillsAdditional Qualifications:Must be at least 18 years of ageCurrent driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance requiredSuccessful completion of background screenings including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint checksMust maintain current CPR and Standard First Aid certificationMust maintain Med Aide certification if administering medicationsMust complete competency-based Community Services orientation trainingAbility to interact effectively with individuals served, families, team members, and community partnersReliable means of communication requiredAbility to read, understand, and accurately complete written documentationReliable attendance and punctuality requiredIf transporting individuals, vehicle must have a functioning air conditioner and heaterPhysical Requirements:Perform sedentary work involving exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionallyFrequently use hands, fingers, and arms for typing, writing, and documentation activitiesSit for extended periods while completing required documentation and administrative tasksOccasionally stand and walk while providing services in homes and community settingsSafely assist with daily activities and transportation needs as requiredCommunicate effectively with individuals served, families, and team membersBrightli is on a Mission:At Brightli, our mission is to change and save lives through compassionate care and meaningful support.
