Direct Support Professional - 2nd ShiftAbilis Headquarters - Greenwich, CT 06831OverviewSalary Range $18.75 HourlyDescriptionPosition: Direct Support ProfessionalProgram Assignment: Abilis Residential ProgramSupervisor: Program Manager, Program Coordinator, or Supervising CounselorJob Summary: As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our residential program, ensuring the well-being and development of the participants. Your responsibilities include providing care, managing household duties, overseeing health and safety, and complying with all relevant standards and procedures.Schedule: Part-time or full-time, up to 40 hours per week. Schedules are set by the residence manager and primarily during programming hours. Overtime is based on resident needs, scheduling, and supervisor approval.Essential Functions:Effectively communicate with participants.Summon emergency personnel when neededMaintain CPR and medication certificationsProvide supervision and use adaptive equipment safelyImplement program goals and manage behavioral issuesPerform CPR and Heimlich maneuver if necessaryPossess a valid driver's license and operate agency vehicles safelyLift up to 50 lbs.Special Requirements:Demonstrate empathy and maturity in working with diverse individuals with disabilitiesAssist Supervising Counselor in direct care and goal implementationComplete required state training programsGeneral Responsibilities:Ensure residents' well-being by facilitating a supportive environment for personal growth. Assist in daily living skills, program implementation, and documentation.Perform tasks like grocery shopping, meal planning, light home repairs, and coordinating with co-workers.Monitor residents' health, manage medical appointments, and ensure proper medication use.Adhere to licensing standards and maintain necessary documentation.Provide clear information to residents and collaborate with staff, families, and external services.Promote positive interactions within the community.Complete required training and participate in development programs for licensure.QualificationsQualifications:High school diploma or GED. One year of human service work experience may substitute for education.Preferably one year in rehabilitation, educational, or residential programs.
