Job description

Direct Support ICF ProfessionalThe Direct Support ICF Professional M-F midnight to 8am is responsible for the routine and emergency care, treatment, and training for specified individuals with developmental disabilities in routine and crisis situations. Responsibilities may include such duties as grooming, feeding, cooking, cleaning, observing, and reporting individuals' conditions and behaviors. The Direct Support ICF Professional Weekend Day Staff is required to accurately document individuals' behavior(s) throughput the daily schedule, including response to home activities, home training, and unusual incidents. Completion of work requires use of simple and/or routine duties, while decision-making is based on well-defined guidelines. May perform other duties as assigned. Works under minimum supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.Duties and ResponsibilitiesVerify, administers and record medications and medical treatments and assure they are properly administered and recordedPrepare and serve meals for up to 7 people in accordance with menu provided by dieticianTake Folks on shopping trips, occasional meals and churchEnsure Folks are observing proper personal hygiene and are dressed with appropriate clothingKnow each of the folks abilities, disabilities and interestsProvide behavior intervention to ensure the Folks are protected from harm or injury due to neglect, abuse, sexual incidents, or other behavioral conduct and properly record the incident and action takenConduct Emergency Evacuation drillsAbility to make decisions and uses good judgment when dealing with critical incidentsAbility to react quickly and calmly in emergencyDemonstrate proper body mechanics, good posture, and proper lifting techniquesAbility to master basic techniques of individual care and trainingAssure individual care techniques, treatment, therapy, and developmental programs of Folks are utilizedOther activities are assigned by Director of Residential Services and House ManagerCompetenciesAttends work on a daily basis and may be required to work a specific shift and/or overtime in accordance with DRI leave policy and performs other duties as assignedEnsure active and efficient care, training, and support for individuals in home living environmentEnsure the practice of appropriate teaching techniques in all training and care activities in living and training environmentEnsure that the home is maintained and is a safe and sanitary living environment for individualsParticipates in the development of individuals' treatment plansOther duties assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supportive role to meet DRI's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternative shift pattern assigned and/or locationStrength and flexibility to safely perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)Initial Selection CriteriaMust be at least 25 years of age, hold a current valid Texas Driver's License, and have no exclusions for insuranceHigh school diploma or GED is preferredCertification in CPR, First Aid, or SUR is preferredExperience in direct care working with individuals with developmental disabilitiesAbility to accurately enter information into a computer and perform simple mathematic calculationsMust possess good communication skills and professional manner when relating to staff, residents, vendors, and familiesMust be organized and have ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detailMust be able to complete all training including medication training with 30 days of hireMust be able to communicate, read, speak, and write English languageSchedule:Monday- Friday midnight to 8amAdditional InformationApplicants must pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, and Employee Misconduct. All DRI employees are subject to random drug testing. Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.
